Using Transport Optimizer to Solve Optimization Problems

Not included in any of the Factory Licenses. For specific pricing contact us.

The Transport Optimizer optimizes how goods are transported over a network.

A typical example is organizing the transport of goods by truck in the most cost and time efficient manner.

The output of the task is:

  • the amount of material moved.

  • the amount of material remaining in the source location.

  • the amount of material now in the target location.

Prerequisites

  • you must have created a flow;

  • the required datasets must have been imported into the flow;

  • the data used for the analysis must have been well prepared;

  • a single unified dataset for each Transport Optimizer task have been created by merging all the datasets in the flow;

  • the input file must contain attributes that define the following:

    • the source, where goods will be loaded.

    • the destination, where goods will be unloaded.

    • the shipping group, which contains the units that need to be shipped within a specific time-frame.

    • the number of units (e.g. trucks) which need to be shipped, or are currently in transit.

    • the priority of the shipping group.

    • the cost of shipping a unit from source to destination.

Procedure

  1. Drag the Transport Optimizer task onto the stage.

  2. Connect the Transport Optimizer task to the task which contains the data for the optimization model.

  3. Double click the Transport Optimizer task. The left-hand pane displays a list of all the available attributes in the dataset, which can be ordered and searched as required.

  4. Configure the task options.

  5. Save and compute the task.
