Local Filesystem File Location
The Local Filesystem is the machine’s memory. It is possible to define a connection to it only when working with a Custom resource.
The local filesystem can be used to perform the following operations:
Flow operations | Dataset operations |
---|---|
If you need to import a file coming from ShareDrive, you need to set the connection to it by choosing it from the drop down list and inserting the connection parameters.
Focus on the Local Filesystem in the cloud version
When importing from a local filesystem in the cloud version, you can’t establish a connection to a local filesystem for security reasons. This is a default setting that any browser has.
If you need to import a file stored locally on your machine in the cloud based version, you need to upload it.
This means that, if the file gets updated after the uploading operations, the changes won’t be automatically uploaded.
When exporting to a local filesystem in the cloud version, you can’t establish a connection to a local filesystem for security reasons. This is a default setting that any browser has.
If you need to export a file to your machine when working in the cloud version, the file won’t be automatically exported: a link will be available to download the file.
The link lasts 30 days, and it is generated every time the task is computed. The file will be saved to your machine only by downloading it.
Focus on the Local Filesystem in the desktop version
When importing from a local filesystem in the desktop version, you can select the file to import from your machine to the software.
As both the file and the software are on the same machine, a connection to your file and the software is created.
When working with a local file on the desktop version, if the file gets updated, the file gets updated on the software, too.
When exporting to a local filesystem in the desktop version you can select the path where the file will be exported directly by the software.
As both the file and the software are on the same machine, a connection to your filesystem and the software is created.
